iachus_logoIachus Gyda'n Gilydd is a Ceredigion based Big Lottery Project which works with children aged 3 -11 and their families, to raise awareness and change attitudes and behaviour around healthy eating and physical activity.

The project is operating in Llanarth, New Quay, Llandysul, Penparcau and Llangybi and adopts a fun, celebratory based approach to engage communities through local events and activities.

It has been developed as the result of a partnership between Ceredigion Local Health Board, Ymlaen Ceredigion – a not-for-profit organisation promoting sustainable development in the community – and a range of other partners with an interest in the programme's outcomes.

The project is committed to consulting and involving children and their families at the outset so that any activities are supported and more likely to be sustainable. Its methods are intended to help children experience healthier lifestyles as fun and easy to access. To date activities have included bicycle powered smoothie and water pumping machines, gardening, cooking, farm visits, forest schools, fruit and veg. co-op, martial arts, conservation work and open access play. Watch out for community ovens and fishing trips in the Spring.
