The Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) has created a new internship that will specifically concentrate on developing a web-based portfolio of Best Practice around health, social care and wellbeing.

They want to collect examples under the following broad headings:

  • Self Care and Independence
  • Improving Access to Services for Specific Communities
  • Community Transport
  • Palliative Care including hospices
  • Volunteering
  • Carers
  • Reducing Admissions and Improved Discharge
  • Mental Health
  • Improving Health and Promoting Wellbeing
  • Innovative Service Delivery Models
  • Social enterprises
  • Workforce development

They also aim to cross-reference and highlight best practice examples where co-production principles can be recognised. Within co-production, the benefits of third sector public service delivery include its ability to:

  • Place the service user or community at the centre of planning and organising services
  • Enable individuals and groups to organise their own support and tackle their own needs
  • Mobilise other resources (additional funds, volunteers and community resources)
  • Develop longer term capacity within communities to support and meet the needs of individual and groups

It is hoped that the work will link with goodpracticewales as well as with the work the Welsh Assembly Government have been doing to collect good practice around social care.

If you know of an example that you think might be good to share with others then contact Michael Richards on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
