|
5 for Life aims to increase health literacy in 12,000 children in Newport over the next three years. The project has two key messages for children and their families: first to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day; and second to be active for 60 minutes a day at least 5 days per week. This is achieved through visiting schools an offering healthy living workshops and taster sessions in a variety of sports and activities. The project then plans with the children a healthy living festival for the community, bringing together healthy food ideas and different activities to get the family active. Finally, 5 for life delivers a 6 week 'Family Fun' programme; this offers families a chance to learn about healthy eating, budget buying, food labelling and children's nutrition. Children try a range of activities and as a family they then cook a variety of healthy meals. Project Contact DetailsLyndsay Crompton e: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
